Bennie
Bennie / M / 9Y / 10lbs / Shih Tzu / Fostered in Owen Sound
Bennie is a very calm, quiet and affectionate boy. He came to us when his owner passed away. Although he very much misses his mom, he is settling in and adjusting to his foster home. He has slowly started to play with toys, he will follow one of his foster cat siblings around the house and he likes cuddling up on the couch beside his foster mom. Understandably, Bennie has some separation anxiety. He is gradually getting to know that he will only be left alone for short periods of time though and his person will come back. Initially he would bark if his foster mom stepped outside, and now he waits patiently and quietly. One of the cutest things about him is that his tongue always sticks out.
Bennie is house trained and walks well on leash. He is currently getting a few short walks a day as he is not a fan of the cold weather. He is trusted free roaming when left alone, which has only been for short periods of time. He is working on some guarding behaviours and is improving- he will guard items he finds around the house and does occasionally try to nip when you take away the item(i.e Kleenex). Bennie has an allergy to chicken, he has an underbite and will likely need a dental in the next 1-2 years. He also needs to gain a few pounds.
Bennie is friendly when meeting new people. He's good with other dogs and cats. He would be fine with kids 14+. Bennie is still mourning the loss of his owner and requires someone with patience to ensure that he is comfortable in his new surroundings. He would do best with someone who is home often to give him lots of love and attention.
